Part of building no. 368 in the Old town of Kotor represents a commercial store arranged as a jewellery shop near Vardar hotel.
The oldest portions of the building are associated with the 15th century and the late Gothic period, with archival sources revealing that three upper storeys were added at the end of the 19th century. Within the scope of the project, a research on the original architectural elements below the interior plasterwork of the store was conducted by opening seven surface probes, on the basis of which the original materials and building techniques of walls and vaults were identified. A Gothic layout of stone block courses on the façades was observed, as well as the remains of walled-up openings.
The aim of the adaptation of the jewellery store was presenting the 15th-century building layers to the greatest extent, including the removal of the most recent plaster coating from interior walls and a conservation treatment for the cleansing of exterior stone surfaces.
PROJEKTOR executed the project and supervised the conservation works.
