Smekja palace complex is located in the central, coastal part of Perast. The complex consists of two palace wings: the older, Baroque one built in 1764, and a later one completed in 1936. The Baroque church of St. Mark is alike part of the complex. Smekja palace represents the largest and one of the finest palaces of Perast.

Prominent position by the sea, spatial arrangement, upper-floor terrace, decorated stone frames of windows and doors, and the fact that all of the façades made of Korčula limestone contribute to the building’s splendour.

The palace is located within the central area of the Old Town of Kotor, on the east end of the Flour square. The palace was named after its commissioners, the patrician family of Pima. Based on historical sources and stylistic traits, the building is dated to the end of the 17th century, although recent research has revealed that a route of a medieval street ran by the rear (east) façade, and that the remains of the older phases of the building with Romanesque and Gothic windows are located in that tract of the palace. Palace as known today has Renaissance and Baroque characteristics.

The church is located in the village of Krimovica in Donji Grbalj. It was built in a prominent position that has represented a place of cult for over 2000 years. The remains of an Illyrian tumulus and a Roman building with mosaics had previously been discovered at the site, now incorporated into the floor of the 18th-century church. The church was severely damaged during the earthquake of 1979.
